FAQ
How does Snowcap work?
The lid features an integrated pump that draws water into Snowcap, where our patented thermoelectric chilling technology cools it to your desired temperature. Additionally, the lid contains a 20-micron filter for water purification. It also has the capability to produce and release ice directly into the tub on demand.
When / where does Snowcap deliver?
Snowcap is expected to be delivered to your doorstep in Spring, 2025.
We currently ship to North America, Europe, Canada, and Australia. If you’re located in another region, we’d love to hear from you! Reach out to us, and we’ll keep you updated as we expand our shipping network.
What are the dimensions and capacity of Snowcap?
Snowcap is 35.5in (90cm) in diameter and weighs less than 35lbs. (16kg)
The Snowcap will hold around 95 gallons (360 liters) full, although you won't need this much in it for the cold plunge.
What kind of power source do I need for Snowcap?
Snowcap plugs into a standard power source, and the cord will be 7.2ft (2.2m) long. 👍
Yep regular household plug. The power cord will not be retractable. The main reason for this is we want to minimize moving parts as much as possible. Moving parts are more prone to wear and tear, we want Snowcap going the distance for you legends!
Can Snowcap be heated?
Yes! Snowcap will include a heating mode and will be able to heat your tub to 104 degrees fahrenheit/40 degrees celsius.
How long does Snowcap take to cool / heat?
Using a Clearwater drop-stich inflatable tub, indicative performance numbers are as below:
Chill times for 77°F (25°C) ambient temperature:
* 6.5 hours for 41°F (5°C) bath temperature
* 8.7 hours for 34°F (1°C) bath temperature
Heating time for 25°C (77°F) ambient temperature:
* 2.4 hours for 104°F (40°C) bath temperature
How much does Snowcap cost to run?
Taking the average US energy price as 16.7c/kWh, this equates to approximately USD $1.10 for a standard chilling cycle from 77°F to 35°F (25°C to 1.5°C). For regular use, the equivalent energy consumption can be further lowered by maintaining bath temperature between uses.
How does water filtration work on Snowcap?
Snowcap has a 20 micron filter built in. We recommend changing the water every two weeks. We recommend rinsing and scrubbing the filter every water change, and replacing the filter element every three months.
What is the wattage and horsepower?
SnowCap recirculates and chills water from the tub using it's included pump and filter assembly. The rated current varies according to region:
10A @120V (North America)
5A @240V (Australia, Asia, Europe)
Due to its thermoelectric design, SnowCap's performance curve differs from conventional refrigeration-based chillers. Snowcap has a peak cooling capacity of 960W (3280 Btu/hr)
What maintenance is required for Snowcap?
We’re finalizing the details during manufacturing, but Snowcap is designed for minimal maintenance. Based on our plans, maintaining Snowcap will take no more time or effort than any other chiller on the market.
What are the benefits of thermoelectric cooling?
Our technology optimizes cooling power across the operating temperature range, achieving an average coefficient of performance (COP) above 1.0 during a standard chilling cycle—comparable to traditional refrigerant-based systems.
In addition, thermoelectric cooling offers several key advantages:
- Portability: Enhanced ease of transport.
- Compact design: Reduced packaging size.
- Durability: Fewer moving parts for improved reliability.
- Eco-friendliness: No use of harmful refrigerant gases.
Is Snowcap waterproof?
SnowCap is ingress
protected to an IP44 level, meaning is splash proof and can be stored
outside even in the rain. Additionally, all high-voltage components
within snowcap are sealed to an IP67 (submersible) standard for
electrical safety. We don't advise leaving in direct sunlight as it
will impact the efficiency of cooling.
Is there a warranty included?
Yes, Snowcap comes with a one-year manufacturer’s warranty for your peace of mind.
How does Snowcap operate in extreme heat temperature conditions?
Snowcap can achieve a temperature of 35°F (2°C) in an environment with an ambient temperature of 25 degrees Celsius. In hotter conditions, however, it will take longer for Snowcap to reach the desired temperature.
